Breast augmentation is performed with either saline breast implants, cohesive silicone gel implants, or for certain patients, harvesting and preparing the patients own fat and injecting this into the breast. The options chosen are based on the patients anatomy and their goals for a result. | Choosing Size: Breast Fullness | Cup Size | |
Breast size is often measured in "cup size", or what size bra is required to fit the breast. Cup size in breasts is not an exact measure as cup size is in cooking. In cooking, one cup is exactly 250cc's. Adding exactly 250cc's to the size of one's breast does not necessarily increase the breast one cup.... from a B-cup to a C-cup. Thus when we discuss size, we are discussing a range and the look the patient desires. The two breasts pictured above are both in the C-cup range though there shape and size clearly differs significantly. We find that the best way to achieve the desired size, is for patients to show us photo's of breasts they like and those they do not like. The "look" desired is then better communicated and more easily achieved.

| Choosing Breast Shape: Natural or Round | |
| The breast naturally has a slope that extends from the upper chest down to the fullness of the breast. In a naturally appearing breast, that slope line is either straight or slightly concave when viewed from the side. In an augmentation where a "natural appearance" is created, this slope angle is increased but it is still either straight or slightly concave. In the "round look", a convex or round slope is created. Of course there are many patients that want something in-between. How we vary the natural vs round look is determined by several factors including implant size, implant projection, the patients underlying breast shape, and by implant type. |  |
| Incision Locations | |
One of several different incisions can be chosen for breast augmentation. Dr. Schneider has become renown in the region for his technique of hiding the incision in the armpit. This is called the endoscopic breast augmentation and can be utilized for either saline or silicone implants. Our patients are given the option either the armpit incision, an incision under the breast, or an incision around the areola. |
